Hello and welcome, I'm posting this to offset the fact that I have proposed your article Face Monkey for deletion, for the reasons you'll see on the page. If your page is deleted, you might like to have a look at this page which may suggest why. One of the most frequent reasons for deletion is that a subject fails to meet these criteria for notability. Alternatively, a notable subject may just not be properly verified with in-line citations. In the case of your article, I'm not sure the whole definition isn't simply made up! However, it's much more fun to edit and create genuine articles here which people will want to keep and consult - why don't you try that? If you need help with getting an article drafted, and want to stop it being deleted, click on the bit after my signature that says (talk to me!) Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 20:18, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] December 2007
Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia and the articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits, as you did to Face Monkey. Readers looking for serious articles will not find them amusing. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you can write (almost) whatever you want. Hi Bennff, adding further humour to the page isn't really the way to go. If this is a serious phenomenon you need to find sources that can prove so. If (as I suspect) it's not, you need to stop adding silliness to the encyclopaedia. Please respond here by hitting the 'edit this page' tab above. Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 20:28, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- "I apologise for the entry, yet I do believe it is a phrase that can be applicable in these circumstances of which there is no term. I will however go quietly if it must be deleted and understand why. " Bennff (talk) 20:33, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hello there, thanks for posting back. It may well be an applicable phrase, but if as you say "there is no [such] term" then it can't really have an article! Wikipedia is for articles about things that do exist, not things that should... However, you obviously have the hang of the editing process - why not find an article you can add something to from a reputable source (eg a newspaper or reputable website)? Then you won't face having your work deleted by other editors. Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 20:37, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your advice, I will certainly take it up. I would just like to ask, is there a way for me to delete the page now that I understand the rules?

- Yes indeed: if you edit the article, delete all the text and then add just the text: {{Db-author}}, a template will be displayed from you requesting deletion. An administrator will come along shortly and delete the article. Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 21:35, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

- Well done, as you can see the article has now been deleted - almost as if it never existed (you will find that your edits to it have disappeared from your contributions.) If you want to get a start on adding to Wikipedia, click on any or all of the links I placed at the top of this page- the ones with the icons to the left. They'll help you get started. Or just leave a message here and I'll see it. Good luck! Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 19:23, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
