[edit] Book advertising
Wikipedia is not a place to advertise books. Also, information in Wikipedia articles needs to be verifiable. Goplat 02:22, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Request For Information
I saw that you posted a request for information in the article for the film Bambi. These should be posted in the article's disscussion page, not the actual article. -- IRT.BMT.IND 00:07, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bambi 2
hey Ben10, I really like all the info you are putting into the Bambi 2 page. But I think you don't quite understand how to write that info down. You're not supposed to address the reader in any way, and you have done that an awful lot. Also you shouldn't use phrases like, "you'll just have to see for yourself" and "...ends up utilizing a skunk's, ahh, signature weapon". I think it's extremely important for you to understand that the entries here on wikipedia are not conversations. They are encyclopedic text. If you need a reference, just look in an encyclopedia. That should be your format. Also you shouldn't use quotes like "as one viewer said". Not only are these quotes unable to be cited, but they also serve really no purpose. There's no reason to read between the lines and add in your own personal opinions about different things. As an editor, you must take an unopinionated side and give ONLY the facts presented in the movie. I really do enjoy your info, and I also had a few bumps when I started writing for this website, but you'll get the hang of it. Just think more encyclopedia rather than conversational.--Linklewtt 10:13, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Response to Your Respons
That's cool that that Disney Encyclopedia website runs that way (in fact, can you give me the web address), but it's just different here on Wikipedia. Trust me, I was not into writing the way you have to on here, but I learned that it really is the best and most concise way to get information across.
For one thing, when you put in little things about waht certain fans say about this or that, it doesn't work. A big thing about Wikipedia is its sources and references, and let's face it - fans are not references. That's why I delete a lot of your stuff that says, "As one fan put it". It just is not the way an article should be written. Now on the Disney website, it could be written that way because all those people are fans of Disney. But Wikipedia represents articles of so many different topics, so all the articles need to be written in a similar fashion. That's the only reason why I get o your case about stuff.
I read your Faline article, and I was impressed. However, I did need to correct certain "fan" instances. You are correct that you cannot interview these characters; that is why it is very very important to only talk about the facts presented. If everyone goes off on their opinions, then we have an opinionated article full of unverifiable texts and ideas. See what I mean? Wikipedia is not the place for brainstorming; that Disney website is. Thousands of people view these articles for information that they want to know. And it is our responsibility to tell them the correct information.

[edit] Your requests
When posting messages to other users, do so on their talk pages, not their user pages. The title should read "User talk:", not just "User:". – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 21:44, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your message
Hi Ben 10 :-) Whether or not you can use an image on your user or talk page depends on the type of licence the image has. I looked at the licence for *Image:Ben10showlogo.JPG* thinking maybe that was the one you were interested in using on your user page. Since that image does not have a free content type licence it can only be used in articles under Wikipedia:Fair use policy exceptions. Images under this licence can not be added to talk pages or user pages (see #9) only on articles. Sorry, if that was the image you wanted to use. You might see other people doing this wrong. They will be asked to remove the image when some clueful editor sees it. If you want me to check on another image for you let me know. Take care, FloNight 15:54, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, those images are copyrighted in a way that keeps them from being used on user and talk pages. This is the section of the image page that says so. *Image:First appearance of Faline.jpg#Licensing* [[1]] Sometimes images are give a free license by inexperienced editors when they should not have one. Usually all screen shots, movie, book, album covers will be copyrighted with unfree license and not able to be used outside of articles.
- This Wikiproject, Wikipedia:WikiProject Filmmaking has a request page. Wikipedia:WikiProject Filmmaking/Requests Also look at Wikipedia:WikiProject American Animation. If the projects are not active try looking at names on the participant list and contacting them on their user talk pages. FloNight 16:38, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Double-take OR
From your user page: "I coined the use of the term Double-take in reference to a scene in a sequel, prequel, or midquel that is similar to one in the original." Do you think that your coining the use of a word deserves a section in the double-take article? Is this not WP:OR? -- Ben (talk) 18:28, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Factiness
The beliefs of the Chinese Calendar is not the same as astrology. Or rather not the same as Greek astrology. It comes from a different culture (China) and is alike with Greek astrology in certain aspects, but should not be labeled as just astrology but Chinese astrology. You can also say you do not believe Chinese nor Greek astrology. I am also wondering how an 18 year-old can name his account Ben 10. Eiyuu Kou 16:10, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Questions about DIOM and small request
Hello, Ben10. I was looking at the discussion box for the Dragons in Our Midst article and I believe you said that you were the one who first made the article? I'd like to help expand the article a bit (although I don't think I can get any pictures). I have read all four of the original series and I just finished reading Eye of the Oracle of the Oracles of Fire series. I was thinking, do you think we should also include information about the Oracles of Fire series into the article too? Or should there be a seperate page for Oracles of Fire? I was just asking for your opinion.
Also, sorry to stray away from the main topic, but I have to say I like your user info, you are a lot like me in many aspects. I was wondering, did you make all of those user boxes? If so, may I request that I may use some for my user page as well? Thank you for your time and patience in reading this message. Unknown Dragon 23:06, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, this is Ben 10. Sure you can expand the article on Dragons In Our Midst. That's what Wiipedia is for! Just make sure you keep it accurate. I don't know what the norm is for a connected series, but having a separate article for Oracles of Fire sounds like a good idea to me. To the best of my knowledge any two related articles (say a movie and its sequel) will have links to each other and sometimes info about each other, although generally speaking an article will mostly refer to its own specific subject. For example, the "Teaching and Ministry" section of the article about Jesus has a list of other articles at the top in case someone wants more info, but the Jesus article itself contains little info on, for example, the Twelve Apostles. I suggest you don't worry about it too much. If you're doing something wrong, someone'll let you know (trust me, I goofed up plenty when I was getting used to the system too).
- Concerning the userboxes you asked about, knock yourself out :) The only ones I made myself are the ones about Bambi, American Dragon Jake Long, the Omnitrix, Road Rovers, and dragons, and I'd be happy to let you or anyone else use them. As far as I know you don't have to ask about putting userboxes from anyone else's page onto your page. And since I've been collecting boxes made by other users for months now with no complaints, I'm pretty sure that means it's OK. It's nice of you to be so concientious about it, though.
- If you need me for anything else, feel free to ask. Welcome to Wikipedia! Ben 10 13:12, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Using images
For further reference, refer to Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free content.
If an image, file, or any sort of uploaded media is tagged with any of those templates, you cannot use them anywhere except in an article. Permission from the uploader of such media does not supercede this rule. Basically, you cannot use any images from movies or TV shows, no matter the circumstance. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 18:24, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
Thanks for responding most of the messages I get are complaints about my edits or people have like the don't give a fuck rule or something. Nice to know there are actully people who aren't robots. Sunspot13 20:12, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] "Strange Driving Trivia" link on your user page
You have a link on your user page to dmv.org labelled "Strange Driving Trivia" . Another editor, presumably the site owner, has been spamming that and some other links to the point that we had to put that domain on the spam blacklist. That means the MediaWiki software will not let you save any changes to a page if it's got that link on a page. It's your user page and you are not a spammer, so you are welcome to keep the link if you want, but you will need to delete or disable the link before making other changes to your page. (To disable the link, just strip the http:// off the front of the link).
For more info on the actual blacklisting, you can find the blacklist request at m:Talk:Spam blacklist#FindMySpecialist, Inc. spam on Wikipedia. --A. B. (talk) 21:23, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Anti-ACLU
I noticed that the userbox User:Disavian/Userboxes/Anti-ACLU, apparently designed by you, is gone. If it was relocated, could you be so kind as to tell me where it is now? I had it on my page and would very much like to put it back up. Ben 10 13:04, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- I have no idea where it went. Apparently, it was a redirect to someone else's userbox that was deleted. I'll look into it and tell you if I find anything. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 17:14, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. If there's anything I can do to help, let me know. Ben 10 14:05, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- According to User talk:Cyde#User:Disavian/Userboxes/Anti-ACLU, this particular userbox was "distract[ing] from writing the encyclopedia and foment[ing] conflict" or something like that, so it was deleted. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 19:37, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Adjllogo.jpg
Hello, Ben 10. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Adjllogo.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Ben 10/UBX/User American Dragon. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 02:27, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello Ben 10, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Teaser1.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Ben 10/Hakuna Matata. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. [edit] nice page...
nice userpage, man, and thanks for not being afraid to support your religion. people are rare like that these days. User: Sophiakorichi
- Thanks :) I know what you mean. being honest about religion is getting harder and harder. The "Creationist Wikipedians" category is gone, and I can't tell you how many times I've been censored in the school paper just for referring to the "J-word." ~~ Ben 10 09:14, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
you're very welcome. and, i don't mind at all, as i have done the same with other userboxes. i might have to check out that spider-man box! the other one is a bit hard to see. oh, and trust me, i know what you mean about being silanced. im quite possibly the only republican in my grade (or at least, the only one who doesnt just listen to my parents' opinions...) and when i speak my mind about religion (or most of my views, for that matter) in U.S. Society? yeah, the whole room roles their eyes. its a tad frustrating... ~Sophiakorichi
- No kidding. It's absolutely ridiculous. Some atheist writers are calling Mother Theresa "deranged" just because she opposed abortion. BTW, you won't find the Spidey userbox I made in the "entertainment" section. I put it under "Beliefs and Identity" because of the statement it makes (my beliefs and my entertainment choices are closely intertwined). ~~ Ben 10 08:22, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, it's ridiculous that in a "free" society people can not support there religion without being criticized for their beliefs. Anyway, nice page man. When I eventually get around to creating an account I might have a similar page, if that's alright with you of course. ^_^ Good luck on Wiki, 72.152.135.75 (talk) 00:14, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Bionicle
Actually I did, except it's missing one K. I've thought about buying it just because. My license plate used to say "Thokk" on it as well. Thokk

[edit] Wha!?
Hi Ben, I was jsut skimming around user pages when all of suddden I saw to contrary userboxes. One said you don't support the [false] theory of evolution but one said you did! Do you know that's there? Or has someone vandalized your page? Hmmm...0_o--Angel David 01:30, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
P.S. Even though it's also the name of a show, I think your username is cool /\_/\
- Thanks. I looked, but didn't see anything saying that I believed in evolution. Are you talking about the one that says I understand it, perhaps? I put that there because I do understand evolution, which is part of how I know it to be false. --Ben 10 10:38, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
-
- That's the one I read. And your right, it's definetly false. Who in their right mind would be an evolutionist? Oh well, thanks for responding.:D--Angel David 22:30, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

- You're welcome. And thanks for taking an interest. --Ben 10 23:24, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cool Username
Hi, Ben 10! I was browsing around and saw your page. You have an AWESOME page and username. I, my self am a BIG, HUGE fan of Ben 10! (You can tell from my username, Yenaldooshi. My favorite episode is the "Benwolf" episode. Have you seen that one? I love Benwolf!!! Anyway, I like how your not afraid of saying you like cartoons and you have SWEET userboxes!--Yenaldooshi (talk) 01:14, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you! I've been meaning to make some more userboxes, but various things have held me up. I also have some stories on the internet, although none for Ben 10 at the moment. Would you like to see them? --Ben 10 (talk) 20:54, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Sure! I'd love to see them!!! ;) --Yenaldooshi (talk) 22:24, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
