[edit] 1985 Births

Could you please change your category of 1985 Births to [Wikipedians Born In 1985], as it is the User equivalent of this Category. Thank you. - Liz White 09:33, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure how to do that, can you please explain to me how to do it. --Ben.carbonaro 10:59, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Werribee Football Club News

Ben does some great work for www.thebulldogsbarking.com if you wish to keep up to date with all Western Bulldogs and Footscray news thebulldogsbarking is the place to be.

[edit] Good work

Hi ben, I commend you on your recent good work on SEN 1116 and other sports broadcasting related articles. Was wondering if your knowledge extends to AFL mate? If so I suggest you take a look at WikiProject AFL. Write on my talk page if you have any questions and keep up the good work. Rogerthat Talk 10:36, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject AFL

If you check out the WP:AFL page it has a list of articles that are wanted to be created. We are looking at adding profiles of notable VFL/AFL players as well as media personalities and commentators.

Don't know about yourself but I can't wait for the season to start. One thing we need for the project is some photos of AFL players, I will be taking some at the games I'm attending, perhaps you'd like to do the same and upload them on here. Unfortunatley we can't get photos from sites like GettyImages on here due to copyright issues, but self-taken photos are fine.

You go to RMIT as well hey? You heading to the Bourke St Lunch in late Feb? Cheers, Rogerthat Talk 11:14, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

I enjoy writing but don't have any media aspirations - I'm studying an IT course at RMIT so I'd be looking more in that field, but you never know, I could end up at The Age or somewhere like that :)
Great to see you're involved in a wide range of sports, I welcome your quality journalistic skills on here. Make sure you speak to User:Ambi, she is quite interested in netball as well and has written a number of quality articles. I suggest you also let people know about Wikipedia because I think Australian sport doesn't get enough coverage on here.
BTW mate, just another tip, write four tildes (~~~~) after each thing you write on a discussion page and a timestamp will show up. Cheers mate, Rogerthat Talk 11:41, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
Hi ben, I would suggest you let everyone know about your journalistic credentials and willingness to contribute to netball and winter olympics (perhaps even the Commonwealth Games) by going to the The Australian Wikipedian's Noticeboard and letting everyone know. Again I urge you to let everyone know about this site as we need all the Aussies we can get! Cheers, Rogerthat Talk 12:12, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
I don't know, as long as you keep it low key it should be okay to talk about. Just say "aspiring" journalist and keep it at that perhaps. Rogerthat Talk 12:41, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Netball

Hey ben, welcome to Wikipedia! If you're planning to write about netball, you should definitely talk to Ambi, she's been working on netball articles for some time now, basically on her own, so I'm sure she'd be glad for the help! --bainer (talk) 22:38, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

I certainly would! When I started, there was basically no netball content apart from the main netball article, and though I've tried to make a few steps toward improving it, it's still terrible. You're welcome to start wherever you like - I've been slowly drawing up a list of topics I'd like to see Wikipedia have at User:Ambi/Netball pages, but it's a sea of red links (pages that don't yet exist) at the moment. Anything you get a chance to do would be much appreciated. :) Ambi 03:09, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Christian Jantzen

How is my Christian Jantzen article unverifiable?

Please explain this.

Thanks Ben.carbonaro 03:45, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi there, and welcome to Wikipedia!
Articles on Wikipedia are required to be verifiable (it says so just above the submit button). That page says a lot, but in short you need to cite a few sources that proves you haven't just randomly made up something to put on Wikipedia. (We get quite a bit of that, and we need WP:NFT for that reason alone.) If you were able to cite one or two reliable sources for your information then I suspect people would be much less hesitant to vote for deleting the article.
Two final points: Once you submit an article to Wikipedia, it is no longer "your" article. Wikipedians do not own articles they submit. Please bear that in mind. Also, you should type ~~~~ at the end of comments you add to talk and discussion pages, this will add your name and the current date and time.
I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia, the world's largest free encyclopedia! Stifle 09:08, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hey ben

G'day mate, this is Antonius from BigFooty. What's happening mate? Good to see you're contributing to some SEN-related stuff here mate. Cheers, TheRealAntonius 09:36, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the response mate. Good work on the Winter Olympics as well by the way. Was wondering if you could also chase up some information from Howard Leigh, Troy Zantuck and Stephen Peak and perhaps add it to their wikipedia entries, perhaps off air? Would love to know more about them. Cheers, TheRealAntonius 12:26, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] World Sport Overnight

Ben, was wondering if you could lend some assistance to me on the details of the history of World Sport Overnight. I have started some sections but am wondering on your thoughts. Drop us a line on the discussion page of the article with any suggestions. Rogerthat Talk 00:53, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Yeah adding some general info on the current format would be good, as well as whatever details you know on the Gladiators of Sport. Look forward to your additions, Rogerthat Talk 07:58, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Age category

Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:

  • Using an age group category, such as Category:Wikipedians in their 30s
  • Using a decade category, such as Category:Wikipedians born in the 1970s.

If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 13:17, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ian Chesterman

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ian Chesterman, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Ian Chesterman. alex.muller (talkedits) 22:52, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Peter Walsh (sports broadcaster)

I see you have a history of working on the article Peter Walsh (sports broadcaster). I am looking at it from the project Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles where it is one of the longest {{unreferenced}} tagged articles that does not meet at least the barest minimum of verifiability. It has been tagged and completely without references since June 2006. It would be extremely helpful if you had some references you could add to the article to help support its verifiability and notability. Thanks for any help you can give.
