Anyone know the unit cost for these things back in WW2?

I'm the son of Arthur J Bross jr. My father was on this ship during WW2, I have a plaque that states, he crossed the equator in 1944, on the USS Benson. my last name is Benson, anyone happen to know where the ship got its name?

The characteristics for the Benson class says there are 4 5 in guns, both photos show 5 mounts. The torpedo count also seems off, there is a single 5? tube mount.
