Description

Benzyne Conversion:

The use of a carbon-13 labled precursor was used to determine the mechanism of the proposed 1,2- to 1,3-didehydrobenzene conversion of the phenyl substituted aryne precursor 1 to acenaphthylene.


  • blue = unscrambled position
  • red = scrambled position
  • purple = considering both positions together/cross-over product.
  • Compound A represents the intermediate meta-benzyene which interconverts the two ortho-benzyenes (2 and 2B)
