R' Benzion Freshwater is a multi-millionaire property investor.

His father, Osias-Shea- Freshwater came to England from Gdansk in Poland in 1939 as the Nazis stepped up their persecution of the Jews. His first wife and their children did not escape and were killed by the Germans. Having arrived in London with little in the way of assets, Freshwater built up a property empire which is now worth thousands of millions of pounds.

R' Benzion Freshwater took over the business on the death of his father in 1976 and has consolidated and increased the assets of the Freshwater Group. He is considered to be worth considerably more that £1 billion.

R' Benzion is a member of the bobov hassidic dynasty. Due to the current spilt in bobov and freshwater's status as an extremely influential individual, he has officially not chosen sides and now goes to both rebbes so as not to cause trouble.
