Bentley Generals
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bentley Generals are a senior AAA ice hockey team from Bentley, Alberta, Canada that plays in the Chinook Hockey League. They are the current senior AAA champions of Alberta,[1] as well as the holders of the McKenzie Cup, emblematic of the championship of Western Canada.[2]
The Generals will represent Western Canada at the 2008 Allan Cup tournament, the third time in five years that the Generals have reached the Allan Cup playdowns. The Generals also qualified for the 2007 Allan Cup when they were coached by former National Hockey League coach of the year Brian Sutter.[3]
Former NHLer Kelly Buchberger was a member of the Generals in 2005, while the team also attempted to play Ryan Smyth during the 2004-05 NHL lockout, though Smyth was ruled ineligible to play.[4]
