Benni Esposito (13 July 1971 - 3 January 2005), was an award-winning artist [1], critically acclaimed comedian and writer (under the name Ben D'Arcy) [2], member of pioneering punk-band Broccoli [3] and subject of a portrait entered in The BP Portrait Award 2005.

Born in London, Esposito moved to Carnoustie when he was four and went on to gain a first class honours degree in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone art college in Dundee, Scotland in 1996. He then moved to London with Broccoli. They released several records and toured the U.K before he decided to return to Dundee in 1997 and complete a masters' degree at Duncan of Jordanstone. In 2000 he performed the controversial but critically acclaimed Fringe show The Road From Dundee. At the time of his death, of a rare heart condition, he had been focusing on his career as an artist. The Benni Esposito Drawing Award has been set up at Duncan of Jordanstone in his memory.

Esposito was a vegetarian and a supporter of animal rights.
