Benjamin of Petrograd

Hieromartyr Benjamin (born Vasily Pavlovich Kazansky) was the Metropolitan of the Russian Orthodox Church in Petersburg[1] and Gdovsk in Russia. He was executed on 13 August 1922 Old Calendar, 26 August 1922 New Calendar, by a firing squad under orders from the Soviet government.
Hieromartyr Benjamin was declared saint by the Russian Orthodox Church. His memory is commemorated on July 31[2].
