Benfleet railway station seves the town of South Benfleet in Essex, England. It is also the closest station to Canvey Island. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by c2c.

[edit] Facilities

The station is situated between Ferry Road and Station Road with the main building located on the Ferry Road side. This houses the ticket office. Entry and exit to the platforms is provided by four automatic ticket gates. On the Station Road side of the building is a secondary entrance/exit which is used Monday - Friday during the AM and PM peak period, this is also has four gates.

The two platforms are reached by fixed staircases. The station has customer toilets including a disabled toilet. The cafe on platform 1 is open during the AM peak period. The ticket office is open Monday - Saturday 05.15 - 22.00 and Sunday 06.15 - 22.00. It has four serving positions and uses the TRIBUTE ticket issuing system. The station also has two Avantix self service ticket machines and a Fast Ticket machine.

Step-free access is provided to and from both Platforms by the use of Automatic Gates located at the Leigh on Sea end of the Platforms.

[edit] Refurbishment

On the 30th January 2007 the Ticket Office closed for refurbishment work to be undertaken. The refurbishment was completed on Monday 19th March 2007. The work saw the construction of a new front ticket office counter, which includes one lower ticket office window for wheelchair Customers. Within the office itself, a new staff restroom was built and the staff toilets were also refurbished.

  • 6tph (trains per hour) westbound to Fenchurch Street, of which:
    • 2tph do not stop at Pitsea, West Horndon or Limehouse
    • 2tph call at all stations via Basildon
    • 2tph take the longer route via Ockendon

Ferry Road has bus stops serving Canvey Island and Benfleet. The station also has a large taxi rank located on the Station Road side of the building.
