[edit] History
The club was founded as Associazione Calcio Benevento in 1929,[1] their original home was the Meomartini which was built by Ciccio Minocchia.[1]
After working their way up lower divisions in their earliest years, Benevento reached Prima Divisione (today's equivalent is Serie C1) by 1935; here they finished above clubs such as Reggina in their first season within the league. The league's name was changed to Serie C the following year.
