In May 2006 the Southern Education and Library Board is considering the proposed amalgamation of Moy Regional Primary School and Benburb Primary School. While the Board of Governors of Moy Regional PS support an amalgamated school on the Moy site, the Board of Governors of Benburb Primary School oppose the proposal. It appears that should the amalgamation proceed, parents of children attending Benburb PS would transfer their children to schools other than Moy Regional PS. Benburb PS also anticipated that children attending Eglish Primary School would transfer to it when it closed in 2007. While Moy Regional PS has a large deficit and falling enrolment, Benburb PS was living within its budget and had the possibility of an increasing enrolment. A decision on the amalgamation was deferred until June 2007.
