Benavente (pron. IPA: [bɨnɐ'vẽt(ɨ)]) is a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 521.0 km² and a total population of 25,266 inhabitants.
The municipality is composed of 4 parishes, and is located in the district of Santarém.
The present Mayor is António José Ganhão, elected by the Unitarian Democratic Coalition.
The municipal holiday is Ascension Day.
