The Benadiri people, also known as Reer Hamar (Somali: Reer Xamar), are an ethnic group in Somalia.
The Benadiri are ethnically related to the Somali people. They are descended from immigrants mainly arab traders who were single males then intermaried the local somalis.
Traditionally they live in Mogadishu and Merca on the Benadir coast and are engaged in business and fishing.
