Ben Nicholas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Benjamin Nicholas (born December 10, 1987, in Adelaide, Australia) is an Australian actor. He is best known for playing Scott "Stingray" Timmins in the Australian soap opera Neighbours.
Raised in Adelaide, South Australia, he lives in London, England. According to former Neighbours co-star Matthew Werkmeister (Zeke), some of Stingray's more individual expressions such as "hufter" and "Belgium" (as an expression of dismay or irritation) were coined by Ben himself (Although the use of 'Belgium' as a curse word was pioneered by Douglas Adams in 'The Hitch Hikers Gude to the Galaxy'). It was rumoured that Ben had planned on leaving Neighbours for some time to further his career in movies. His final performance as 'Stingray' aired on March 23, 2007. Nicholas travelled from Australia to the UK to perform pantomime over the Christmas period. In December 2006, he performed at the Marlowe Theatre, in Canterbury, Kent, as Prince Charming. He performed in Cinderella in the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage from 1st December 2007 until 27th January 2008. He is also involved with The Rayz, a London based band[citation needed] .
Nicholas toured during September-October 2007 with the band 'Lucas', playing over 40 dates.[citation needed]
On September 10th 2007 he appeared on the Donny Osmond presented show Identity where the contestant correctly identified Ben, from 12 possible characters, as the soap opera star[citation needed]
Nicholas appeared on BBC's Celebrity Scissorhands for Children in Need 2007.[citation needed]
Ben will be appearing in the stage version of the hit Disney film High School Musical in London. He will be playing the part of Jack Scott. The shows run is from Saturday 28th June 2008 until Sunday 31st August 2008 in the Hammersmith Apollo London.[citation needed]
