Ben MacDougall (born 25 May 1977 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian professional rugby league player for the Melbourne Storm in the Australian National Rugby League (NRL) competition. He primarily plays in the centres.
MacDougall also played Rugby union in Scotland for three years from 2005 to 2007, representing the Scotland national rugby union team. MacDougall qualified for Scotland through his grandfather, Alan, who came from Glasgow. MacDougall never played union until targeted by Matt Williams, the former Scotland coach, in 2004. Williams did not rate Scotland's centres and, having failed to persuade MacDougall's older brother Adam, a rugby league international, he recruited Ben.[1][2]
Before departing for Scotland in 2005, MacDougall played for Western Suburbs Magpies, Newcastle Knights, Northern Eagles, Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and Melbourne Storm.
In 2007, MacDougall signed a one-year contract to return to the Storm and Australian rugby league for 2008. [3]
