Ben Lomond Peak near Ogden, Utah is probably the most famous of the peaks in the northern portion of the Wasatch Mountains. It stands north of Ogden in prominent fashion and is very popular with the community. A well-used trail passes over its summit (elevation 9712 feet), accessible from four different trailheads to the north, south, and east.

It stands out along the Wasatch front because the mountain range appears to run east and west along the Wasatch Range where most mountains appear to run south and north. Just west of Ben Lomond Peak is Willard Peak and just west of Willard Peak is Inspiration Peak. A dirt road travels 14 miles from Mantua, Utah, to Inspiration Peak. The road is usually not passable until July due to the deep snow that resist melting due to its northern exposure. Once up on Inspiration Peak, on a clear day, one can see Salt Lake City to the south, Willard Bay and the Great Salt Lake to the west, and Logan Utah to the north.

From Inspiration Peak you can hike or bike to the summit of Mt. Ben Lomond and then continue east to a trail head on North Ogden Pass. The trail is listed as one of the top mountain bike rides in Utah. From the North Ogden trail head to the summit of Mt. Ben Lomond is approximately 9 miles.

Ben Lomond was named after the mountain BEN LOMOND in central Scottland. Early settlers thought the mountain range resembled the Scottish range.

A slightly higher summit, Willard Peak, stands approximately two miles north of Ben Lomond at an elevation of 9764 feet. Nevertheless, Ben Lomond is the better known peak because of its prominence when viewed from the south.

Ben Lomond Peak is said to have been picked as the official logo for Paramount Pictures.
