Ben Ficklin (sometimes written as Benficklin) was an unincorporated community in Tom Green County, Texas, United States. Founded by Benjamin Franklin Ficklin to support his Texas stagecoach operation in the mid-nineteenth century, it was named in his honor after his death. Located five miles south of Fort Concho on the east bank of the South Concho River, it served as the seat of Tom Green County from 1875 to 1882. Today, it is a ghost town. Tom Green County was created in 1874 as 12,500 square miles from the Territory of Bexar. The county seat was moved to San Angelo after a flood on August 24, 1882 destroyed Ben Ficklin, killing 65 people.
