Ben Bolt is an unincorporated community in south central Jim Wells County, Texas, United States, seven miles south of Alice on U.S. Highway 281.

Ben Bolt is on Farm Road 2508 off U.S. Highway 281, seven miles south of Alice in central Jim Wells County. Mexican herders were residents of the ranching area before the building of the railroad. The town was laid out in 1904 by L. B. Collins. When he named the town, which is right down the road from Alice, he did so under the influence of a popular song, "Ben Bolt," the first line of which is "Don't you remember sweet Alice, Ben Bolt?" A post office was established at Ben Bolt in 1906.
[edit] January 31, 2008 Brush Fire
On January 31, 2008 a large brush fire damaged 3 non residential buildings and partly damaged one home in Ben Bolt and forced many evacuations. The fire started on the west side of U.S. Highway 281 but strong winds in with gusts in the 40's blew the fire to the east side of the highway and it burned about 60 acres. Elderly residents and students from Ben Bolt Middle school were evacuated to Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco High School on the west side of 281 were there was little damage. 4 students were treated for smoke inhalation. Fire fighters from Alice, Sandia, San Diego, Mathis, Ricardo, Falfurrias, Kleberg County, Brooks County, San Patricio County and NAS Kingsville were all at the scene along with law enforcement officials, to help aid evacuations and traffic, from Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department, the San Patricio Sheriff's Department, the Department of Public Safety, the Alice Police Department, the Premont Police Department and the U.S. Border Patrol.

Ben Bolt is served by the Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco ISD. Its schools include Palito Blanco Elementary School for grades K-3, Ben Bolt Middle School for grades 4-8, and Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco High School for grades 9-12.
