[edit] Raz Adoti

Hi Belovedfreak,

Hope you're well.

I've created Raz Adoti's page; you'll see that he's notable. I was wondering whether you could reformat the references to include the footnotes, and to basically oversee the page for improvements (contents box, external links etc).

Thanks,

Have a good week,

Best,

[edit] My RfA...

Thank you...
...for your participation in my RFA, which closed with 85 supports, 2 neutrals and 1 oppose. I'm extremely grateful for all the the kind comments from so many brilliant Wikipedians I've come to respect and admire, as well as many others I've not yet had the pleasure of working with, and I'll do my best to put my shiny new mop and bucket to good use! Once again, thank you ;)

[edit] Peer review for Mulholland Dr.

Hi there, and thanks again. I appreciate (really!) taking apart the article. I think it's funny because I get all huffy at first, then I calm down and change it, and it's usually is a lot better. I can't ever seem to skip the huffy step, though. I appreciate your input. Anything else you can think of that needs changing, please suggest away. --Moni3 (talk) 12:02, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Samuel Ameobi

Hi. :) I just wanted to let you know that I have removed the speedy tag from this article to let the AfD play out. The reason I've done so is that there seem to be serious notability concerns about this individual. My removal of this tag isn't meant to disagree that the article has insufficient content, but was done because of the specific larger concerns in this issue and my belief that settling that question may be of more value than a quick deletion in this case. If this article is deleted as "no content" and recreated with sufficient content, a new AfD would have to be launched to determine notability. If the AfD closes as it looks likely to at this point, the article will be protected against recreation by WP:CSD#G4 until and unless notability can be properly established. I think allowing the AfD to proceed may ultimately save Wikipedia time. If you want to talk about my reasoning, please feel free to drop me a line at my talk page. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:28, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] page redirects

hello. i was wondering if there was a clever and efficient way of determining any redirects on a given page without clicking through every one? --emerson7 22:19, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

yes is an example. after gathering all the names into an article or template like this one, is there a way to determine if the good links (not the redlinks) point to dabs or redirects without manually checking each. --emerson7 22:46, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
thank you so very much....that's exactly what i've been seeking. cheers! --emerson7 23:22, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The Laramie Project

There is nothing wrong with them having their own articles. But, the articles were just stubs ...and have been for a long time. Until someone takes the time to work on them, I believe they are best served merged into an omnibus article. If you want to make them B-class or better on their own, OK. But, it is easier to maintain if they are all together. And, easier to fight off an AfD. My Wiki-philosophy is mergist: merge stubs into a central article until some one can spend the time and effort to expand. Cheers! Wassupwestcoast (talk) 17:07, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Just a note, the entire content of the previous separate articles were copied into the omnibus article. Nothing has been lost or deleted. Cheers! Wassupwestcoast (talk) 17:11, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] MDMA

No thanks. It was badly worded in a way that required a citation; I worded in a way that it did not. I'm an experienced Wikipeadian, please and thanks. Scientz (talk) 22:55, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Granted. I stand by my claim, and offer the plea that there will be no "reliable" (i.e., "published" sources) that detail the unpleasant, nasal passage ripping effects of insufflating MDMA. The bottom line is, as much as "original research" is a valid guideline, sometimes common sense must be employed for the purposes of completeness. There are three choices here, as I see it. 1) Simply leave the "citation needed" tag there ad infinitum as there will never be a published source detailing these effects; 2) accept the OR-tinged personal experience of a someone who has on several occasions insufflated both cocaine and MDMA (cocaine having no unpleasant effects on the sinuses, MDMA feeling like inhaling powdered glass); or 3) remove the section altogether in favor of better wording. As an inclusionist, I prefer choice 2, and such, I have reverted my edit. Scientz (talk) 17:11, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rfa thanks

Thanks for supporting my recent request for adminship which was successful with 89 supports, 0 opposes, and 2 neutrals. [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:AndTheBandPlayedOnFilm.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:AndTheBandPlayedOnFilm.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:10, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Jeremy Andrews (Scientz) User Page

Do not EVER, under ANY circumstances, touch my user page again. Scientz (talk) 01:09, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

It's my opinion that this has become a personal grudge with you because of my edits to MDMA (in which, I notice, my edit appears to have "won") . . . Grow up. I (or my user page) would not have even come to your attention were it not for my edits on MDMA. My user page has been like that for well over a year without any other Wikipedian taking offense or needlessly editing it. My user page does not violate Wiki protocols (I've read them twice now). Most telling, in fact, is the sentence in "What may I not have on my user page?" that reads: "The Wikipedia community is generally tolerant and offers fairly wide latitude in applying these guidelines to regular participants." If this is the case, where is your tolerance? To me, your attempts to edit my user page are transparent, and I'd appreciate it if you'd stop hiding behind Wiki protocols that do not say what you claim they say. If you want to discuss edits I've made to the general content pages, fine . . . that is what Wiki is here for. If you want to continue this asinine edit war over my user page, then I shall stand by my claim that you are being unnecessarily immature. Stop. I'm done speaking to you about this topic. Scientz (talk) 17:01, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm curious how you have arrived at the judgment that that material appears without their consent . . . have you spoken with my father, mother, or grandparents? Also, your own quote only refers to "unsourced or poorly sourced material", so how did you interpret your edit as falling within those guidelines? Last time I checked, the birth dates on Wiki did not have a footnote. If your interpretation is indeed correct, then I'd better start putting "citation required" tags on several hundred thousand birth dates. So which is it I'm violating again? Just leave the page alone. Scientz (talk) 18:50, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
In fact I am not, although your suggestion has been duly noted. Scientz (talk) 18:57, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] adoption

hi there - I'm back - are you still able to adopt me? I've just made some edits to Ishmael Beah's page - an entry that has attracted controversy in the past (see history and discussion). So I would appreciate your advice if those issues re-occur. Leaving aside the question of bias, which is always going to be a subjective judgement, I think that the page as it stood was factually misleading in a couple of places. Oops as you can see I am also crap at formatting, this message appeared in the wrong place - I'm sorry!—Preceding unsigned comment added by Rosabibi (talkcontribs) 18:57, 16 May 2008

Thanks for your advice. No, I don't want to get into edit wars, so I'm glad for you thoughts on how to avoid that.

It isn't just the content of the entry that bothered me, but the fact that changes were being made at the instigation of the publisher, who by several media accounts has been extremely high-handed over the whole issue.

What is the deal about sources? There was talk on the discussion page about needing "secondary sources", which just seems weird to me and I can't find anything in the guidelines that seems to validate it. I've always been taught to value primary sources, and I really couldn't see the point of referencing media coverage that was basically just reporting on the original reports. I've included some material from the Village voice article because it did include some new interviews etc. But still no extra on the ground reporting.Oops, forgot to sign again. And what is the formatting thing that makes lines appear in that box thing, and how do I get rid of it?--Rosabibi (talk) 16:17, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Me again. Thank you for your time and for your interest. I fixed the title and added a couple of catagories (after much messing around) but I still couldn't get the references to show up - I'm a bear of very little brain on technical things. I'll take another look when I have more energy and am feeling more alert. I know a lot about nineteenth century women travel writers, however. And not many of them have wikipedia pages, so I'll add some more entries, as well as adding more to the Sophia Lane Poole entry. Thanks again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rosabibi (talkcontribs) 12:50, 29 May 2008 (UTC) Done! although I should go back and put in more complete reference details - but that will have to wait til morning. Yawn. Thank you!--Rosabibi (talk) 14:45, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
