[edit] Mistreatment or molesting?

As there are no citations for "some sources" here, and there is a reference to her beating her son, Ed for mistreating her horse, I've substituted this since it has a reference. Otherwise if there are citations for the original, please include them. Julia Rossi 05:09, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] False Information?

Hi all. I am reading That's not in my American History Book by Thomas Ayres. He a has a segment in that book on Belle Starr that describes her as a mentally deranged woman, who served years on the streets of Dallas as a prostitute. This article seems to fit the bill of the "cowboy legends" that are interesting but not true. I would generally trust a published book more than Wikipedia, but still who knows? I might suggest cleaning up this article from making her seem less like a beautiful heroine, but I guess it is more upo to you guys to decide. If you are interested in the book, the ISBN # is 1-58979-107-X Thanks, 69.81.178.253 18:23, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Ronald W. Lackman, author of Women of the Western Frontier in Fact, Fiction and Film (1997) seems to consider the Glenn Shirley book listed in the article as the most authoritative. The article needs more references from that, and less from legend. Also, while Starr did sleep around, she made her money from horse thieving and cattle rustling her neighbors. --Yamara 05:52, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
