[edit] Surrounding schools

I see little point in including the schools in neighbouring suburbs. Is this article about Belgrave, or schools of the Dandenong Ranges? Comments? Cnwb 09:33, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

This article is about Belgrave, but as Belgrave is the hub of the Dandenong ranges (both as transport hub and commercial hub) I believe that any links are important to include.

One such link is the schools in the area. I attended Selby Primary School and Emerald Secondary College but spent many of my years hanging around in Belgrave and live just outside of Belgrave in Selby.

Many of my friends live in Belgrave and I believe it is important/useful/interesting to know what the local schools around Belgrave are, as nearly all people who live in Belgrave will have attended one of these schools.

Perhaps this could be included in an overall Cultural section of Belgrave?

I will also start work on surrounding suburbs of Belgrave, but will not include expansive schools sections for them as that would be unneccesary as these towns are much smaller.

Perhaps once there is more expansive information there could be a section for Schools of the Dandenong Ranges? --ZenXi6 10:26, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

I grew up in Olinda, went to high school in Monbulk, and had friends that went to school in Upwey and Emerald. I, too, am familiar with the schools of the area. But this article is supposed to be about Belgrave, not education in the Dandenong Ranges. If you have a look at Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, you'll see that Wikipedia is not "Directories, directory entries, or a resource for conducting business".
Don't get me wrong - I think you're doing a great job on improving the Belgrave article, and we can certainly include schools that are in Belgrave (like Mater Christi), but the list of schools in surrounding suburbs is superfluous. Cnwb 12:48, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

-=> Just read the What Wikipedia is and isn't. I never realized that was there before. Although I have been editing Wikipedia for a while now, I have never seriously looked into it - just changed things i knew were wrong or that needed addition. Thanks for referring me on to that - I will now get onto work on a schools of the Dandenong Ranges section (or EDEC schools or something) but i first need to look further into it and I still need to retain the information which is currently there so I can move it once the page is ready.

Thank you for your help - Can you please check pages that I will be doing and tell me what is wrong etc.. I will be doing a 3MDR wiki entry along with a few program wiki entries etc.. --ZenXi6 14:39, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fire-Twirling

As a participant of such occasions, I can say with certainty that the fire-twirling is _not_ "as organised by the Aztec Bar" but is merely an artform indulged in by numerous patrons to the bar and endorsed by the bar. The spontaneous act of fire-twirling occasionally also occurs in conjunction with themes in the bar. As such I have altered the relevant entry.
