Beltway Poetry Quarterly

Beltway Poetry Quarterly is an English-language, online literary magazine based in Washington, DC.
As its name suggests it features poetry from the "Beltway" region of the Washington, DC area. The publication strives to "showcase the richness and diversity of Washington area authors in every issue." Special themes have included issues on Walt Whitman, "DC Places," and "The Evolving City". In 2004 the quarterly featured a "Wartime Issue" covering poetic responses to the Iraq War.

The quarterly was founded in 2000 by Washington poet Kim Roberts who serves as editor. Guest editors have included Kwame Alexander, Naomi Ayala, Sarah Browning, Andrea Carter Brown, Regie Cabico, Grace Cavalieri, Terri Ellen Cross, Brian Gilmore, Merrill Leffler, Saundra Rose Maley, and Hilary Tham.
Historic and contemporary Washington area poets featured in Beltway include Karren L. Beltway Poetry Quarterly compiles monthly poetry news about events in the Washington area. In this way the publication has become a key part of the vibrant poetry scene in the Capital region.
Beltway Poetry Quarterly also maintains a Resource Bank which includes extensive links for poets and their audiences. These include information on grants, educational resources for poets, small presses, journals, festivals and residencies.
