Below Jupiter is an alternative indie rock band from Cleveland, Ohio (USA). The majority of the band's songs are piano-based.
Below Jupiter was founded in early 2006, when Josh Emmet (vocals/piano) met Chris Russo (drums). The band played its first show in January 2007, at The Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. On December 18th, 2007, the band self-released their debut album entitled Step Into Home (Act I).
In late March 2008, Below Jupiter went 3 piece with the addition of their new bassist, Matt. All three members of Below Jupiter are multi-instrumentalists, covering the majority of guitar, bass, drums and keyboards on their recordings. Below Jupiter usually performs as a trio, but is also known to play solo.
Within two months of its initial release, Step Into Home (Act I) was reviewed in The Cleveland Free Times, Scene Magazine, The Akron Beacon Journal, and The Plain Dealer. The band has received airplay on various radio stations such as WAIF in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Below Jupiter's lead singer Josh Emmet, is also founder of Americans for Freedom and Equality[1], a group that is attempting to build momentum for a national constitutional amendment that advances freedom and equality for all persons.
