[edit] Mission Statement
Belmont Community School District is vitally interested in the educational and social development of the children of our community. This development is the joint responsibility of the home, school, and community. Our youth must be instructed and guided in the process of "growing up". The process of growing up doesn't mean growing older. The home, school, and community must all contribute to the educational process of our youth. The school of today is attempting to meet the challenge of adult life by providing such instruction and guidance as will develop well-trained, socially adjusted individuals who will be able to think clearly, act cooperatively, and live democratically and productively in a modern society.[2]
[edit] Athletics
The school's official nickname is the Belmont Braves. Having a low enrollment of merely 130, Belmont is a Division 7 for the WIAA state football playoffs. The school also offers many other athletic opportunities. These athletics include volleyball, girls basketball, boys basketball, wrestling, track and field, baseball, and softball.
[edit] Softball
Belmont High School is most famous for its girls fastpitch softball team. Since 2001, the Lady Braves carry a record of 134-39 (a winning percentage of .770). The team competes in the Six Rivers Conference and won the WIAA Division 4 State Championship in 2002 (25-1 overall record). The team has also gotten WIAA Division 4 State Runner-Up in 2003 (20-6) and 2006 (18-8). Since 2001, they have advanced to the WIAA State Tournament 3 times, sectionals in 6 of the last 7 years, and have appeared in 5 of the last 7 sectional finals. The Lady Braves also advanced to the WIAA State Tournament as a Division 3 team in 1999 before losing their first game at state.
