Bellevue School District

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bellevue School District No. 405(short: BSD) is a public school district in King County, Washington, USA and serves the communities of Bellevue, Clyde Hill, Medina, Hunts Point, Yarrow Point, Beaux Arts Village, and portions of Renton, Newcastle, Issaquah, Kirkland and Redmond. As of October 10, 2006, the district has an enrollment of 16,569 students. [1] Former Superintendent Dr. Mike Riley, resigned his position to work for College Board in early December of 2007. Dr. Riley had been instrumental in authorizing hundreds of thousands of dollars of expenditures by the Bellevue School District on College Board products and services[2] In February of 2008, the district announced that during Dr. Riley's tenure it had overspent by $4.8 million, and will have to make budget cuts, increasing overall class size and reducing services to students, particularly special education.[3]
