Belgrade The Capital (Beograd Prestonica) is a project that was funded with support from the European Commission. It involved the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Belgrade, the Berlage Institute of Rotterdam and the Fakultät fűr Architektur der Rwth Aachen (Germany).

This project culminated in a book, following intensive work by teachers and associates of the Faculty of Architecture in University of Belgrade and the Berlage Institute from Rotterdam, during the spring of 2006, in Rotterdam and Belgrade. A final workshop was held at the Berlage Institute in Holland in June 2006.[1]

Goals of the project included enabling communication between the content of teaching and professional practice, didactic methods and practical problems, and an approach to urban planning and design.

Among the goals were cooperation and contribution in shaping innovative and research-teaching approaches, assignments and methods of students' and teachers' work at the future Master's course in the field of urbanism at Belgrade; building a different definition of the new, future capital character of Belgrade as a regional metropolis; and research of a model for the productive synthesis of urban teaching and development practice, according to Vladimir A.
