Belfast Town Police

The Belfast Town Police were the police force of Belfast for much of the 19th century. They were disbanded in 1865 following several years of serious communal rioting between Protestants and Catholics (most of whom had migrated from other parts of Ulster), and their duties were taken over by the Royal Irish Constabulary.
