Bel Air Country Club

The Bel Air Country Club is a private social club located in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California. The property includes an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, and serves as a meeting place for residents.[1]

Located in posh-Bel Air, the club was founded in 1927 as a work of Alphonzo E. Bell, and the golf corse was soon opened. It was designed by William P. Bell and George Thomas, measuring 6,491 yards and a par 70.[2] Described as "exclusive", the club offers one of the most challenging golf courses on the West Coast,[3] and is consistently ranked as one of the highest-rated golf courses in California.[4][5] Many celebrities are/were members at Bel Air, as many live in the high-end neighborhood itself.[2] The club enforces a very strict dress code, displaying high-end formality.[6]

The Club, as it commonly referred to, serves as a social location for many notable figures. They include Jack Wagner, Jack Nicholson, Kelsey Grammar, Tom Cruise, Jim Nantz, Barron Hilton, Clint Eastwood, Mac Davis, Angelo Mozilo, Jerry West, Luke Wilson, Robert Loggia, Teddy Forstmann, James Woods, Steve Wynn, Glenn Frey, Pete Sampras, Joe Namath, Chris O'Donnell, Vin Scully, Al Michaels,[2] Dennis Quaid,[7] and Phil McGraw

The Club also has a program that exists to remember and honor extraordinary or legendary individuals; they are called honorary members. These include Arnold Palmer, Amy Alcott, Byron Nelson, Greg Norman, Ken Venturi[2] and former President Ronald Reagan.
