[edit] Construction
The development is split in three phases- phases 4 and 5 are under construction; phase 1 and 2 are referred to Residence Bel-Air and Phase 3 is referred as Bel-Air on the Peak. Each phase has a clubhouse and 8 blocks that are about 48 floors tall. Floor 40 and upwards are flats that have the area of two flats combined into one, creating over 3200 square feet.
"Block 4" is omitted in the enumeration for superstitious reasons. Additionally, the 4th floors of each block have been omitted as per tradition (similar to that of the 13th floor in the USA.) Strangely the management company neglected to omit 4 in naming the new phase but the Cantonese translation of Phase 4, or Say-kay, loosely meaning death time.
The residential project is part of the Cyberport project negotiated between PCCW and the government. However, the residential part became the overwhelmingly successful portion because of its well-planned layout, a large variety of unit sizes and its most luxurious Clubhouses in Hong Kong.
Bel-Air residents are considered to be well-to-do and multinational. Living in Bel-Air is like vacation in resort hotels after routine work everyday.
[edit] Facilities
Luxury is the essence of Bel-Air's two Clubhouses, the Bay Wing and Peak Wing. They feature a spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, game room, gym, children's play room, restaurant, and personal movie theatre/cinema. Each floor of the "Residence Bel-Air" has two flats with 3 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, and a balcony. Additionally there are single family homes near "Residence Bel-Air".
Each floor of "Bel-Air on the Peak" has three flats, 2 larger units, 'A' and 'C' and a smaller 2 bedroom unit 'B'. The clubhouse of "Bel-Air on the Peak" is significantly newer with more artistic features. They maintain an indoor pool, gym, restaurant, snooker room, and children's game room.
The facilities of Bel-Air are nicely maintained. For example, the jacuzzi and swimming pools of the Peak Wing are so nice that they rival those in other resort hotels. The gym in the Peak Wing faces the open ocean that makes every workout a very enjoyable and pleasant experience.
All phases of Bel-Air also feature sky gardens at the mid zone that let every resident to look at the magnificent panoramic view of the ocean and sunset.
Broadband is available from both PCCW and the local cable provider.
[edit] Transportation
The club runs a shuttle between the site and Shun Tak Centre. The shuttle typically runs every half hour --during commuting hours. The shuttle bus operates between all 4 current phases and experiences heavy loads during peak hours. The "Bel Air on the Peak" phase was initially advertised as operating its own shuttle to the Causeway Bay region. However due to the management's inability to obtain the proper government licensing prior to the complex's completion they were forced into sharing the single shuttle service between all 4 phases.
