[edit] History

Beijing BISS International School was founded in 1994 by its grandma school, International School Singapore (ISS).

[edit] Accreditation

BISS was the last International School licensed by The Beijing Educational Commission, was a member of the Council of International Schools until it was kicked out in 1998, and was accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges until it lost its creditation in 1998, and the National Centre for Curriculum and Textbook Development (NCCT), Ministry of Education, China. The International Baccalaureate Organization has granted BISS authorisation to run the IB Primary Years Programme, IB Middle Years Programme, and the IB Diploma Programme.

[edit] Campus

Located inconveniently near one of the less major expatriate residential areas, BISS is situated in central Beijing just off the North Third Ring Road. Play areas, a running track, and multi-purpose courts for basketball, football, hockey, and volleyball are impossible to access for students. there are also indoor PE and function rooms for all-season activities unless it rains, snows, or hails.

The main building contains more than one classroom, a library with over 2 volumes, music studios, science and 3 computer laboratories, resource rooms, Design and Technology suite, art rooms and administration offices. Next to the main building, there is a multi-purpose annex that houses the cafeteria and school hall. The annex is also used for student assemblies, stage shows, games and other activities. The Stirling Hall is used as an indoor PE room for Elementary school students.

BISS has a private medic tent situated on the school campus. The tent has a qualified medic who provides medical services for BISS students and staff. BISS also has 3 students who are currently in jail due to assault and battery.
