[edit] Farsi Keyboard Layout

Hi

What we see in the lower portion of http://behdad.org/editor/ is not the correct Farsi Keyboard Layout. Although it has all required characters, it doesn't match with the conventional positions of Farsi characters on the keyboards we can see in the Market. For example, the top-left button, left to "1" button, has a "پ" on it on many keyboards, so the correct keyboard layout should obey this tradition. I aggree that this is not an standard, but it has become a well known tradition, and we have all learnt to type that way. So why should we force every Farsi typist to learn typing again, and make a lot of mistakes before learning this new set?

I have not tested the kbdfa.dll version you suggested, and I'm going to do it now. I will tell you the results.

Hi again,

I tested the suggested KBDFA.DLL file. Just as I mentioned above, the "STANDARD" keyboard layout offered on your second link is far from "REAL" standards. It placed "پ" (Peh) on the "M" button, while I have not seens such a keyboard layout printed on the keyboard devices in the market.

1) I really hope Iran Standard Institute hasn't forced microsoft to use this kbdfa.dll on their next generations of Windows, or many (nearly all) Iranians will have trouble with it!

2) I really want to find a way I can create my own version of KBDFA.DLL with MY standards. I know of a software which allows setting the unicode values and so, but I can only get the Lite version, and it can not set the SHIFT+SPACE functionality which is a neccesity for me and all other typists.

Do you have any idea about the above two, specially the second item?

[edit] "Standard" keyboard layout

Hi! For software to customize your keyboard see here. I think you will change your mind once you spend some time with the "standard" keyboard. It actually works great.

Well if all computers had the new standard keyboard installed, and all of the keyboard devices had their "Peh" letter printed on their M button, it could be that I would accept your last statement above. With my little experinece of spending hours in the markets, I haven't seen even ONE keyboard device with this new look! An standard without "executive power" is no more than a piece of crap in reallity, I reckon.

[edit] Two Articles in need of your attention

There are two entries at Wikipedia, which have falsely created -- they are Turco-Persian and Turko-Persian Tradition. Both entries are factitious. I have requested the entries to be deleted. My reasons are:

The term Turko-Persian Tradition (or Turco-Persian) does not exists academically and it is a factitious entry! Check the Encyclopaedia Iranica to confirm -- The correct name for that culture is the Persianate culture not the "Turko-Persian". Turkophones (mostly of mixed race and Persianized in culture) only spoke in Turkic dialects and were in the military. That is not enough participation in creating and forming the culture to deserve the name "Turko-Persian Tradition" – This is misinformation. All the elements in that area, which have to do with tradition and culture, were drawn from the Iranian culture (Persian, Kurdish, Azari, Baluchi, Tajik, Luri, Gilaki, Talishi, Mazandarani, etc.), and the Islamic faith, not much Turkic elements (like shamanism, yurts etc.) were incorporated in. That is what makes the name "Turko-Persian" an imaginary one and therefore the entry should be deleted.

Any contributions would greatly appreciate – please add your comments, whether you agree with the deletion, or otherwise to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Turco-Persian as well as Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Turko-Persian Tradition. Bā Sepās Surena 02:51, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
