Behind the Scenes (U.S. TV series)

Behind the Scenes was a 10-part series on arts aimed towards 8 to 12-year-olds that was broadcast on PBS in 1992. The series was produced by Alice Stewart Trillin and hosted by Penn & Teller. It was developed to illuminate the creative process underlying the working of artists, such as David Hockney, JoAnn Falletta, Robert Gil de Montes, Nancy Graves, David Parsons, Max Roach, Julie Taymor, Allen Toussaint, Wayne Thiebaud and Carrie Mae Weems. Several well-known artists, including Jane Ira Bloom, Blue Man Group, Matt Groening, K-Rock, M.C. Lyte, Bobby McFerrin, Master Tee and Uptown String Quartet made guest appearances. The series was funded by The National Endowment for the Arts, the MacArthur Foundation and McDonalds.
