Welcome, Bec-Thorn-Berry!
I'm glad you've decided to join us - this is a great project! We do have a lot of users, and are currently working on 2,411,881 articles, so things can be a little intimidating... but don't worry! We love to help out, and we'll try our best to make your stay here as comfortable as possible.
Here are a few links I found useful when I first arrived here:-
- Be Bold!

- Meet other new users
- Policies, guidelines, and rules
- How to create a page, edit a page and write a great article
- A handy tutorial, and a picture tutorial
- Writing well
- Learn from others
- Play nicely with others
- Contribute, Contribute, Contribute!
- Tell us about yourself
- Be inspired by our finest!
You should sign your name on talk pages, discussions and votes by typing ~~~~; our software automatically converts it to your username and the date. Also, if you don't want to jump right into editing articles right now, why not check out the sandbox? Feel free to make test edits there.
I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian - I definitely do. Although we all make mistakes, please keep in mind what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or problems, leave me a message on my talk page, and I'll try my best to help. Otherwise, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
We hope you stick around, and make sure you enjoy yourself! Cheers, riana_dzasta 11:51, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your participation in several AfDs
Welcome, Bec-Thorn-Berry! I noticed that you joined the discussion at several articles for deletion today. Participation in the community is encouraged, of course, but your status as a brand new user means that your opinions might not be counted. Please understand that this is a common practice on Wikipedia, and it is necessary to prevent deliberate misuse of our discussion pages. Our discussion processes value consensus over raw numbers and reasoned debate over simple voting. However, please do make further contributions to Wikipedia and express your opinion on policy matters. Feel free to contact me if you have any queries about this. Thanks, riana_dzasta 11:51, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I want to second what Riana said. contributions like this probably will not be given much weight. AfD is not a vote, it is a gathering of opinions, so your opinion will be given more weight if you actually describe why you think an article should be deleted or kept, preferably basing your reasoning on relevant policies and guidelines. A few links that should prove helpful in understanding how deletions debates work:
- ...and a few policy/guideline links that may be helpful:
Hope that helps.--Isotope23 20:01, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Notebook Lesson Deletion Vote
FYI, your vote to delete Notebook lesson is being supressed by the articles origonal author. You might want to take a look at what has been done. Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Notebook_lesson Davidpdx 14:16, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Oh yes - I see. Thank you so much for this message. Bec-Thorn-Berry 04:32, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bonny Hicks
Hi. Unless you still disagree, could you retract your Delete vote at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Bonny_Hicks? I greatly expanded the article after your vote and consensus of everyone now, including the AfD nominator, is "keep". The article could be a Wikipedia:Speedy_keep but for your non-conditional delete vote. I realize your vote was good faith and respect that but as you can see by the article has transformed (see diff here). CyberAnth 02:08, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed and opinion adjusted thank you for your request CyberAnth. -- Bec-Thorn-Berry 04:08, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] TeckWiz's RFA
Hey Bec-Thorn-Berry. Thanks for commenting on my unsuccessful RFA last month under my old name, TeckWiz. I'm now known simply as User:R. I've been very busy lately which is why you're getting now. I hope to keep helping and improving Wikipedia alongside you. --TeckWiz is now R ParlateContribs@(Let's go Yankees!) 16:55, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your support and comments at my RfA | ||
Hi Bec-Thorn-Berry, It still amazes me that otherwise "anonymous" editors take the time to place !votes and comments on RfAs. Whilst I would have normally thanked you at the time of you leaving your message, the importance of my not appearing to be canvassing prevented me from so doing. Now that everything has progressed successfully I can finally thank you. I intend to uphold a style of good adminship and will welcome your further comments at any time in the future, even if they are in the form of admonishment. I will be happy to help as an admin wherever and whenever I can --VS talk 00:13, 28 June 2007 (UTC) |

[edit] My RfA
Thank you for participating in my RfA. It was successful, and I am now, may God have mercy on us all, an administrator. Look at all the new buttons! I had heard about 'protect,' 'block user,' and 'delete,' but no one told me about 'kill,' 'eject,' and 'purée.' I appreciate the trust the community has in me, and I'll try hard not to delete the main page or block Jimbo. -FisherQueen (Talk) 18:11, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
