Beca Group

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Beca Group (generally known as Beca) is an international, employee-owned engineering consultancy. It is the largest such company in New Zealand, where most of its staff are based. Beca has over 2,000 employees in total;[1], much of them international recruits.[2] It ranks 77th in the top 200 international design firms.[3] It has received numerous awards for its design work (see external links).

Beca was founded in 1920s by Arthur Gray on his return to New Zealand after WWI, where he purchased an engineering practice that would later become Gray Watts & Beca and eventually Beca Group. The company notes its core skills as engineering, planning, project management and valuations services, applied in five main sectors: industry, buildings, transport, environmental and resource management and management services.[4]

Beca has undertaken projects in at least 62 countries outside New Zealand, from Belize to Tanzania. Amongst its major projects so far were the Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand, and the Macau Sky Tower in Macau, China, inspired by the first. [5]
