[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:4-over.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:4-over.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:47, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Moises Arias.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Moises Arias.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NrDg 02:02, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Raven Symone.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Raven Symone.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NrDg 02:05, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Anneliese van der Pol.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Anneliese van der Pol.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:06, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

This was a blatant copyvio of http://www.ipressroom.com/pr/aca/info/photo/AnnelieseVanDePol1_SBM.jpg. You cannot upload images from the web and put them on wikipedia. I hope you understand. If you have questions about image use, or what is or isn't appropriate to upload, I'd be glad to help you out. Thanks for your consideration.-Andrew c [talk] 15:17, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyvio images

Warning This is your last warning. If you continue to upload copyrighted content, such as Image:Anneliese van der Pol.jpg and image:Sabra_Johnson.jpg, you will be blocked from editing. If you have questions about our image policy, please ask. But for the time being, STOP uploading copyvios. Thanks.

-Andrew c [talk] 15:21, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Here are some image tips. You cannot upload just any image you found on the web. We have to distribute our content under free licenses. Every image that is uploaded needs to have one of the licensing tags applies to it, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/All. You need to either:

  1. only upload content that you personally create, and that you are comfortable releasing under one of the many free licenses
  2. go to http://flickr.com, or any number of other image repositories that host certain freely licensed images, and search through the images that have an acceptable free license (for flickr, that would be cc-by-2.0 and cc-by-sa-2.0.) Any other license found on flickr is NOT acceptable.
  3. contact the copyright holder of an image you like (or contact the subject, or the subject's agent or publicist) and ask them to donate the image by releasing it under a free license (this requires an Wikipedia:OTRS).

Wikipedia allows a minimal amount of necessary, non-free content, but almost always images of living people are NOT acceptable. I'd be glad to discuss our image use policy, or any questions you may have, so please feel free to contact me, or reply here. Thanks for listening, and good luck.-Andrew c [talk] 15:34, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked for image uploads in violation of copyright and biography of living persons policies

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violation of copyright policy. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

Most of your image uploads appear to be images of living people. To upload these images:

  1. You must have been the photographer who took the image, and you must own the rights to the image.
  2. You must not upload images you found on other websites, as you did with [:Image:Moises Arias.jpg], which had a Viewpages watermark on the image.
  3. You must provide full source information including when and where you took the picture.
  4. You must release the image into the public domain or under a GFDL or Creative Commons license.

Failure to comply will result in future blocks. —C.Fred (talk) 22:08, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Another warning

What is the first edit you performed after your block expired? You uploaded one of the exact same copyrighted images which got you blocked in the first place. Please, if you don't understand the image use policy, ask questions. I'd really like to help you. But if you continue with the copyvios, you will be blocked again. Consider this your last warning, because you have been blocked just a few days ago for doing the EXACT same thing. -Andrew c [talk] 23:23, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Again, the last image you uploaded was not appropriate for wikipedia use. Please stop uploading copyrighted material, and ask questions about our image use policy if you don't understand. If you continue to violate our policies, you will be blocked again.-19:41, 13 September 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrew c (talkcontribs)
