This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because of concerns that the chosen username may not meet our username policy.
This is often not a reflection on the user, and you are encouraged to choose a new account name which does meet our guidelines and are invited to contribute to Wikipedia under an appropriate username. If you feel this block was made in error, you may quickly and easily appeal it - see below.

Our username policy provides guidance on selecting your username. In brief, usernames should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, related to a 'real-world' group or organization, confusing, or misleading.

If you have already made edits and wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name you may request a change in username which is quick and easy. To do so, please follow these directions:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note, you may only request a name that is not already in use. The account is created upon acceptance – do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change since we can far easier allocate your new name to you, if it is not yet used. Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username.
Last, the automated software systems that prevent vandalism may have been activated, which can cause new account creation to be blocked also. If you have not acted in a deliberately inappropriate manner, please let us know if this happens, and we will deactivate the block as soon as possible. You may also appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

Request reason: "This user has requested to be unblocked so that he/she can file a request on Wikipedia:Changing username to change his/her name to AndrewContompasis (talk · contribs)."

Decline reason: "You've previously created an article with that title. You were blocked because your username is promotional, so anything you change it to must be non-promotional. — Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:31, 3 May 2008 (UTC)"

Decline reason: "In order to be unblocked, you need to select a name that has no relation whatsoever to the entity you've previously been trying to promote. Also keep in mind the comments below - if unblocked, you will be expected to adhere to our guidelines on conflicts of interest. Please read that carefully and consider what else you might be willing to contribute to before requesting another unblock. — Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:38, 4 May 2008 (UTC)"

[edit] Question

So far, all of your edits have been about yourself. Under the conflict of interest guidelines, we all agree not to write about ourselves. Now that you know that you won't be writing about yourself, do you still want an account? What other kinds of useful edits are you hoping to make? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 03:03, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of Bears Repeating

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Bears Repeating, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Bears Repeating seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Bears Repeating, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself.
