[edit] Changing an article's name
Hi. I see you created a new article called Amboyna (play) which was exactly the same as the Amboyna (tragedy) article in order to change the article's title. Just for future reference the way to do this is to use the "move" tab at the top of the page; this has several advantages: it means there's only one article to maintain, it preserves the article history and it automatically creates a "redirect" page on the old article which will redirect people straight to the new one without needing to click on anything. Very new users are blocked from using "move" (there have been problems in the past with people setting up a username then comitting "hilarious" vandalism by moving articles about), so probably it's your best bet to have a word with a user of longer standing (such as myself or Zapptastic, who welcomed you above) to ask them to do it. If you have any questions please feel free to ask! Happy editing. Tonywalton | Talk 19:12, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah - "Move" isn't too intuitively obvious for "change the name of an article", sadly. Ah well, all sorted now. Regards. Tonywalton | Talk 19:22, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
