Bearcat (born 1971) is an underemployed gay freelance writer of Franco-Ontarian stock in Toronto, Ontario, who votes for the New Democratic Party, drinks Alexander Keith's, hangs out at the Church and Wellesley Timothy's (and usually succeeds in resisting the temptation to write dirty words all over Alexander Wood), worships Jack Layton and Olivia Chow, doesn't exercise nearly enough, has at least two pieces of below-neck body art that I'll admit to in public, secretly wants to be Avi Lewis when I grow up, and is generally far too poor and depressed to be half as cool as I wish I were.

Most of my contributions are around Canadian history, geography, politics, media, arts and culture, since that's the area I'm most familiar with, but from time to time I'll correct glaring errors in other articles I come across, too.

If you're really nice to me, I might let you read my Livejournal.

In the unlikely event that you care what kinds of things I plan to write up in the future, here's my sandbox.

[edit] Inukshuk of distinction

I have no particular attachment to barnstars, and had no idea what they were until I read Barnstar, but I have noticed on many occasions the vast amount of work you have undertaken to keep various categories and subcategories well ordered. Since categories often assist the reader in finding related articles, it seems appropriate to award you an Inukshuk for your tireless efforts at maintaining and improving Wikipedia categories, as well as for fighting the good fight against those editors who insist on placing an article in both a parent category and a subcategory.

Your efforts are much appreciated. Skeezix1000 21:56, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
