[edit] History

The museum occupies a historical industrial building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally serving as the National Biscuit Carton Making and Printing Plant, it was designed by Nabisco’s staff architect Louis N. Wirshing, Jr. and built in 1927. In 1999, the then owner of the building, International Paper, donated it to Dia. The renovation to ready the building for use as a museum was completed by OpenOffice Arts + Architecture Collaborative in May 2003.
