Beathut is a record label that was founded in 1999 by Andre Thomas and Caroline Hemingway. Beathut started as a distribution and production company but has since progressed into mail order, retail, consulting, promotions & marketing and a record label.
Beathut specialises in hip hop, R&B and other affiliated music genres, mainly US imports however Beathut has distributed some UK hip hop such as VA Food 4 Da Brain & Nomadic Poet's 'A Traveller's Tale'. Beathut opened Beathut Record Store, in August 2004 in Soho. Beathut Records sold music on CD, Vinyl, magazines, clothing and DJ equipment. Beathut closed its retail store in August 2006 to concentrate on other aspects of the business however in 2007 Beathut opened CD HUT, a new hip hop shop first at Release the Groove in Denman Street, then at Vinyl Junkies, Berwick St, Soho, London.
Beathut Distribution is run out of London and Beathut supplies all major high street chain stores, online stores and independent stores with the latest hip hop & R&B. Beathut also exports around the World and also sells music back to the USA.
In 2006 Beathut put out 2 re-issue albums. Cesar Comanche of Justus League (Little Brother, 9th Wonder) 'Wooden Nickels Re-visited' and Median of Justus League, 'Path to Relief Re-visited'.
Beathut also put out 'Food 4 Da Brain' a UK compilation CD put together by Mr Dex, Biggerman and HS Pro. Mr Dex hosted and ran the Beathut show, Live @ Beathut' on Saturday mornings on popular London radio station, Itch FM and is also a Beathut show DJ.
Beathut is also working with many US artists such as Paradime, Kid Rock's tour DJ. Beathut have just started to promote Paradime with a 'F**k Ya Life' CD featuring many well known artists. Beathut are also working with other US artists like Silent Knight, Marq Spect & Broady Champs and URB (USA) magazine's 'Top 1000 to look out for', NYC native producer Dub Sonata. Dub Sonata will also be featured on a NYC programme on 1Xtra that will be aired in December 2007.
Beathut have been promoting albums for years as part of the sales process however they are now opening an in-house promotions department hence eliminating out sourced companies, some of which don't have the strong industry contacts or the hip hop knowledge that Beathut have.
Beathut Promotions has most recently arranged the promotion of NYG'z. NYG'z are a NYC hip hop duo who released their debut album 'Welcome to G-Dom' on Year Round Records (DJ Premier's label). NYG'z and DJ Premier visited the UK on November 5th 2007 for a few days to promote the album with the assistance of Beathut. NYG'z performed live at Bar Rumba on the 5th November 2007 with an introduction by DJ Premier. There was also a CD signing at CD Hut on the same day.
Beathut also did some radio and press promo for Cormega and Termanology whilst they were in the UK on tour arranged by another promo company in December 2007.
Beathut also did some minor promo for hip hop artist Jeru whilst he was in the UK in early December 2007.
Beathut must not be confused with the similar named company.
Beathut LTD is trademarked in the UK and Europe.
