Beast of Craggy Island

The Beast of Craggy Island is a fictional beast in the Father Ted TV series. The beast is created as part of a plan to rig Craggy Island's "King of The Sheep" competition. The plan uses the Beast to lengthen the odds of Chris The Sheep, Fargo Boyle's multiple winner of the competition, by having him suffer a crisis of confidence and starting to burp consistently.
During the early part of the episode, the Beast is scaring everybody on Craggy Island. Ted and Dougal later find out a stereo hanging from a tree is responsible for the noises believed to be made by the beast. In the meantime, though, the legend of the beast develops, giving it a range of unusual attributes, many of them about its ears.

- Many of the locals think it might be a kind of giant fox
- It's as big as four cats

- It's got a retractable leg so that it can leap up at you better
- It lights up at night
- Its claws are as big as cups
- It's got a tremendous fear of stamps, for some reason
- It's got magnets on its tail so as if you're made out of metal it can attach itself to you
- When it yawns, it sounds like Liam Neeson chasing a load of hens around inside a barrel
- It lives and roams on the moors of Craggy Island, or at least the place where there should be moors
