[edit] History
Bearsted Football was founded in 1895 and is one of the oldest football clubs in Kent. The club disbanded before the Second World War but reformed after its conclusion and continued with its participation in the Maidstone and District Saturday Leagues.
It was during the 1970's that the club became one of the leading sides in Maidstone football. The club successfully applied for a place in the Maidstone Premier division and in its first six years it came runner up three times and won the league three times. In 1982 the club built on its local success and was elected into the Kent County League. In the 1998-99 season the first team moved to its current home of Honey Lane, Otham. The club has been unable to build floodlights on Honey Lane which would give them the opportunity to apply to join the Kent League. This is due to local opposition against the erection of the lights.
[edit] Notable achievements
In the 1999-2000 season, the club reached the semi final of the Kent Senior Cup, a cup which included the likes of Gravesend and Northfleet and then Football Conference side Dover Athletic. Bearsted were knocked out by Deal Town, who also went on to win the FA Vase at Wembley that season. During the same season the club went unbeaten in the league until May, a story which was covered in the Times newspaper.
In the 2002-03 season, the Kent County League was picked to represent England in a UEFA tournament. This side was headed by the then Bearsted manager and had five Bearsted players in its ranks.
