Named for William Miller Beardshear (1850 - 1902), the 5th president of Iowa State University. It was originally built between 1903 to 1908 as Central Building and was planned to house:

  • Mathematics department
  • English department
  • Botany department
  • History department
  • Modern language department
  • President's office
  • Secretary's office
  • Treasurer's office
  • Board of Trustees office

Beardshear Hall was given its current name in 1938. Today, Beardshear Hall is for administration and hold the following offices:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Registrar
  • Student financial aid
  • Provost
