UK CD single cover |
"Be Mine" is the first single to be released off Swedish pop singer-songwriter Robyn's 2005 self-titled album. It was released in the UK as the fourth single from the album in 2008.
The single was a big success in Sweden, peaking at number three in their official singles chart. It also had some success in the rest of Scandinavia, peaking within the top twenty in both Finland and Norway. The song was also a great critical success, being voted the #21 single on Pitchfork magazine's top 2005 songs and #4 on a similar best-of-2005 list by Stylus.[1][2]
The song was mentioned as being Robyn's fourth UK single from her album in the Robyn.com official newsletter dated November 14, 2007, in which a new video and new remixes for the song were mentioned. This information was later confirmed at her official site, along with the information that it was to be digitally released on December 30, with a physical release on January 14. Remixers were confirmed to be Klas Åhlund, Dusty Kid, Jori Hulkkonen, Meatboys, Ocelot, Redroche and Roger Sanchez.[3]
The studio live "Be Mine (at Högalid Studio)" version of the song was also featured on Robyn's The Rakamonie EP, however titled as "Be Mine (Ballad Version)" instead.

[edit] Music Videos
[edit] First version
The original 2005 music video shows several Robyns (one bald, one a green-haired stripper, one with a bowl-cut and another disheveled-looking one with white hair) featured in different scenes. Most of the different Robyns self-evaluate their appearance in some way, by looking into mirrors.
Robyn reportedly had trouble with wearing the bald cap during inital filming, meaning the music video almost was not able to be filmed in the manner it was.[citation needed]
[edit] Second version
A new music video directed by Max Vitali was filmed for the 2007 release, much like the UK release of Handle Me. It switches between shots of Robyn in a white room and Robyn going to a bar with a friend at night. Fitting with the songs lyrics, Robyn sees her object of infatuation at the bar, who she envisions to be holding her (however, is in fact kissing his girlfriend). It is much more simplistic and realistic than her other two UK release videos.
The new video was first released on November 27 and shown exclusively at Robyn's website (though to view it you need to be a VIP member).
