BD Somani International School

The BD Somani International School is an International Baccalaureate certified school in Mumbai, India. It is located in the posh Cuffe Parade area in South Mumbai. It has the honour of bing the first IB school setup in South Mumbai. It was opened on July 17,2006, and it currently only runs the Diploma Programme. The Principal of the school is Mr. Don Gardner, and the school will be starting the IGCSE for the 9th and 10th standard next year. The school is in the same compound as the famous GD Somani Memorial School, the BD Somani Institute of Fashion, as well as Kindergarten and Nursery programmes.

The first batch of BD Somani International School, will be completing their IB Diploma by May, 2008. Some of their students have already got into prestigious universities in the USA. Some of them include Northwestern University, and others like Purdue University, Babson College, Bentley College, Indiana University, etc. Students have also got offers from Imperial College, Kings College, University of Manchester, Nottingham University, University College London, London School of Economics and Political Science and the list goes on. Many of its students will be expecting their replies from universities in the US and some in the Uk in March-April 2008. The BD Somani International School has a very prominent faculty and is rich in its extra-curricular activities. It's students take active part in its CAS activities, and the school is devoted to community service by students volunteering to go to places like the Vatsalya Institution, The Spastic Society of India located in Colaba, and other affiliated programs like service in the neighboring Fisherman's Colony.

Due to its success as the first school in South Bombay, it is slowly climbing up the rungs of one of the best IB schools in India. Admission is very selective, and it's student body is very bright. Universities from all over the globe come visit the school regularly, and is host to many University fairs each year. Due to its high education standards,the school has been published in the Newspapers regularly, and the school is known for its posh interiors, especially facilities like the Library. The school has its very own yearly publication initiated by one of its students, Abhishek Chhabria, who took over as its first ever Editor-in-Chief.
