His dichterisches work reminds in many courses of that of its friend Matthission. Both have an inclination to the Wehmuetigen and to describe above all events from the ranges of topics nature and homeland. The seals of Salis Seewis are characterised however by more maleness, freshness, popularness as well as deeper and wahrerer longing. Its Elegien have always a firm and determining reason. Done of the revolutionary thoughts of the French revolution, he was a progressive representative of Menschenrechten and separated from the conservative, oligarchischen tradition of its family, which controlled the three federations over decades unquestioned. Franz Schubert like parting from the harp, the grave toned many poems of Salis Seewis or to the round dance.
