[edit] Split

This template is for National Championships in the BCS Era and links to the BCS national championship game. I think that should mean BCS National Champions and as such the 2003 split shouldn't be called a split and USC 2003 shouldn't be mentioned on it. USC won a national championship that year, but it wasn't the BCS and unless this is supposed to list all national champions since the BCS began (as if the BCS started a new era in football) it doesn't need to be mentioned on the template. Any thoughts, objections, etc? Phydend 17:20, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

I think there's a solid difference between "BCS Era" and "BCS". The post-season college football system changed significantly enough to call it an area. About the only other option I see it dumping this template in favor of an all-encompassing football NC template, but that would open up a whole mess of issues when we start looking pre-AP/Coaches/UPI. --Bobak 17:41, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I replied here. The all-encompassing template seems to me the best idea, although it would be hard to implement. I guess suggestions should go there for now. Phydend 18:11, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
