Why are modern road signs so ugly, why can't we use the old cast ones, or the ones in Cast mounts. The 1960 street ephemera--mail boxes, street lights, trash cans, call boxes, are so lacking in design. Now of course, they are subject to design envy of planners wanting to stamp their imprint on the landscape--read gut and destroy--which they do every twenty years; case in point the re-design of Granville Street Mall. thus in the end we are left with multiple generations of ugliness, East Van, North Road etc when in fact the only thing we should be doing is saving the pre-war landscape, but upgrading here and there for safety, ie catseyes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.81.77.4 (talk) 16:57, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
