I don't know why. I like learning and writing about music from the 1970s and obscure pop acts from all eras.

In addition, even though I now live in Pennsylvania, I enjoy updating articles that reference my Southern U.S. roots, particularly Southern pop culture and foodways.

I'm also a fan of all things Canadian, British, Australian, French, German, South African, Spanish, and Mexican, so when I can, I try to contribute offerings to those bases of knowledge as well. As U.S.-ers, we can never know too much about the world we inhabit and often try to control, even if the meager offerings I contribute are the smallest and quirkiest of factoids.

Finally, I enjoy adding a few LGBT references to articles or creating new LGBT articles altogether.

Thus, I guess I write about things that I feel are misunderstood or are often dismissed outright as not being "serious," "scholarly," or "important"--the 1970s, disco and soul, "throwaway" pop culture, the South, other countries and cultures, and gay people.

However, it's classic microhistory, to my thinking. Sometimes from the innocuous details you can extract greater meanings and understandings. Or so I think.

So far I've written the following articles:

I've also added information to the following pages:

I have two other articles in the works. We'll see how they turn out.

Perhaps before long I'll tackle some topics that might make big statements or connect the dots to grander themes, but there are so many very good articles in Wikipedia written by people more knowledgeable and focused than mere mortal me.

I admittedly have a lot to learn about wiki style. Sometimes it just seems obtuse. Please feel free to help me out when you can, correcting my mistakes and letting me know how to improve via my talk page.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy what you read and will contribute to my knowledge on subjects as well.
